Project SENET bags Golden Icon Award

SENET bags the Golden Icon award for the "Best documented resource and case study" in the Professional category. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances recognizes excellence in implementing e-Governance initiatives in an exemplary manner to Organizations and Institutions, through these awards.
The award was received by Mr. G. R. Akadas, Deputy Director, SENET on behalf of Ministry of SSI, GOI at a glittering function in Bhubneshwar on Feb. 03, 2005.

The Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme for Small Industries envisages provision of guarantees, to the extent of 75% in respect of loans given to SSIs without collateral security and/or third party guarantee up to a maximum of Rs. 25 lakh, by banks (and other lending institutions) which have registered with the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Small Industries (CGTSI) as Member Lending Institutions (MLIs). The Scheme is being operated by the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Small Industries (CGTSI), set up by the Government of India and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

As on 31st October 2005, 753 proposals for Rs. 17,24 crores were approved under the Credit Guarantee Scheme from the NorthEastern States (including Sikkim).

Tool Room & Training Centre (TRTC) at Guwahati.
During the month the Tool Room & Training Centre, Guwahati conducted a short term training courses on CNC technology in which 2 persons were trained.

Entrepreneurship Development Programme in North Eastern Region
4 Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, 6 Motivational Campaigns and 2 Management Development Programmes were conducted in the North Eastern Region for 575 persons.

Annual SSI Convention 2005

The Annual Convention of Small, Agro and Rural Industries was held on 28 October 2005 at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi. His Excellency the President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the convention and present the National Awards in the following fields

National Awards for Small Scale Industries
(i)    Research & Development Award - Three awards
(ii)   Small Scale Entrepreneurs awards - Twenty-four awards
(iii)  Quality Products of SSI awards - Fifteen awards
(iv)  National Awards to Banks for Excellence in SSI Lending - Three awards

National Awards for Excellence in Khadi and Village Industries:
Thirty four Individuals / Institutions

Coir Industry Awards - Seventeen awards

In the inaugural speech the President selected the topic for discussion: "Capacity Building in Small Scale Industries" and emphasises the following points:
i) Law of Development
ii) Innovation
iii) Creative Leadership
iv) Missions for Small Scale Enterprises
v) Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas

On this occasion Secretary (Small Scale Industries and Rural & Agro Industries) released a special edition of the Laghu Udyog Samachar . Shri A. K. Basak, Former Industrial Advisor was the Guest Editor for this special edition.

An Open House Discussion on "Challenges before the Small Enterprises in a Competitive Business Environment" was also held after the inauguration and presentation of awards.

A meeting of Group of Ministers (GOM) was held on 25.10.2005 under the Chairmanship of Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister to discuss Small and Medium Enterprises Development Bill 2005.

Prosecution of Large Scale units for manufacturing the items exclusively reserved for Small Scale Sector:
The Ministry of Small Scale Industries has initiated action to prosecute three Large Scale units for manufacturing items reserved exclusively for manufacture in the Small Scale Sector. To see the action in this regard Click Here

SIDO participated in an International Exhibition at Nairobi, Kenya during the period 14 to 20th September 2005 and displayed the exhibits of 21 SSI units. Confirmed order of 12000 USD has been received along with trade enquires for the value of 1.5 million USD.

SIDO participated in an International Exhibition at Milan, Italy during the period 22 to 25th September 2005 and displayed the exhibits of 21 SSI units. Trade enquires for the value of 1.00 million has been received.

SIDO participated in South African International Trade Exhibition (SAITEX), Johannesburg during the period 27 to 30th September 2005 and displayed the exhibits of 26 SSI units. Trade enquires for the values of 1.75 million USD have been received.
