The Project has been launched by MOS (SSI&ARI) on 21st Sept. 2000.
The Project Document and the Trust Fund Agreement with UNIDO has been signed in July 2000.
For establishing Toy Design & Development Institute (TDDI) at Toy City, Greater NOIDA, a plot of land measuring 18, 144.39 sq. mtrs. allotted by Greater NOIDA Authority has been registered and physical possession of land has been taken.
TDDI has been registered as a society
Contract to AIJU; Spain has been given for providing technical consultancy for setting up of TDDI at Greater NOIDA. In this regard the final report from AIJU has been received.
Testing facilities for testing of Toys as per IS: 9873, Part I, II & III and EN-71 have been established at RTC New Delhi and Mumbai.
The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi are providing the necessary design inputs to the toy industry.
Awareness Programme on CE Certification has been organized at New Delhi and Mumbai respectively on 15.01.2002 and 25.02.2002.
Exposure programmes on Technology and Safety needs of toys were organized at Delhi and Mumbai in May 2001.

Under the market development programme members of Toy Association of India participated in the New York Toy fair in the years in 2001 and 2002.
Exhibition cum buyers-seller meet (Toy Biz 2002) was organized at Pragati Maidan on 28th & 29th July 2002 & Toy Biz 2003 at Mumbai on 1st & 2nd March 2003.
Organized workshop on ‘Improved Plastic Processing for Toys on 25th Oct.2002 at RTC New Delhi.
Awareness workshop on Toy Industry held on 29.11.2002 at Trident Hotel, Chennai, 24th Jan 2003 at Udaipur and 9th Jan 2003 at SISI Kolkata.

Seminar on quality upgradation & Toy testing held at RTC, Mumbai on 24th March 2003 and Toy design Clinic in association NID, Ahmedabad and TAITMA.at SISI Mumbai on 25th march 2003.

Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Mumbai had carried out study of Toy manufacturing units at Mumbai & Delhi regarding development of improved packaging for Toys.
Till date five Steering Committee meetings of NPDTI and two Governing Council meetings of the Toy Design & Development Institute (TDDI) under the Chairmanship of AS & DC (SSI) have been held.

Organized Workshop on Technology upgradation & Export promotion of Indian Toy Industry on7th August,2003 at RTC, New Delhi. Mr. N.Mohanty, Principal Advisor to the Director General, UNIDO, inaugurated the workshop.

Under NPDTI 44 small scale Toys manufacturing units participated in the SPORTS GOODS OURDOOR & TOY FAIR-2003 from 13th to 16th October 2003 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Ministry of Commerce & Industry organized the fair in association with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, Sports Goods Export Promotion Council & Toy Association of India. This fair was held concurrently with the Indian Handicraft & Gifts fair, Autumn 2003. Total business of US$ 121 thousand was generated during the fair.
53 small scale manufacturing units participated in the Toy- Biz, Exhibition cum Buyer Seller Meet organized by the Toy Association of India at Mumbai from 21-22nd February, 2004.
