Availability status of Technology and ease of implementation in India.
- Barcoding companies ( Hardware /Software suppliers) are available across the country.
- Generally easy to implement barcoding (through printing on product packaging, labels, tags, etc).
- Low cost of implementation (depending on requirement) for just labeling (less than one rupee/label onwards), printing on product packaging to acquiring hardware ( barcode printers etc, for high end applications).
- Easy availability of international numbering standards used in barcoding (thru EAN India – a non profit organization promoted by Ministry of Commerce – Indian Industry) and availability of technical guidance on implementation.
