REGISTRATION AS SSI. - Small Scale Industries are not provided Registration by the State Government, as Registration with State Government is not MANDATORY. Registration had been denied to SSI. Producing Engineering goods, Electrical Goods, Cosmetics being treated as Highly Polluting Industries, as Painting, Turning, heat treating, Electroplating, Galvanising, Electroplating. Polishing, moulding castings are the processes to complete the final products. It is going on since 1973 in the State of Maharashtra. All the Units located in Mumbai, Thane Municipal Area are Mira-Bhayandar have not been given the status of SSI by granting them registration as SSI. Since 4th May 1993 Mumbai. Thane & Mira-Bhayandar has been declared Non-Industrial Zone except of Manufacturing of Jewellary of precious Metals, Plastic Articles, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning and Photographic equipment. All the existing Units Manufacturing Cosmetics are issued the Manufacturing Licence by Foods and Drug Administration, but Non SSI. All the Unit Producing Engineering Goods, Electrical Goods, Manufacturing of Toys, Manufacture of Chalk etc are registered UNDER Central Sales Tax Act, State Sales Tax Act, recognised with Central Excise Authorities, recognised as Exporters, but are not issued the SSI Registration. Without the SSI Registration, SISI, NSIC, Export Promotion Council, do not recognise them Small Scale Units. The SIDO is not a position to assist all these Units to go for ISO-9000. It is being told openly that providing the Registration is a State Subject & State has the privilage to deny. ANY SOLUTION? - How to resolve, though we can create more job? |

Why Multiple Bank Accounts for SSI to Export & avail draw-backs? Each & every Unit of Small Sector, have to maintain separate Current Account with State Bank of India, Sahar Air Port, State Bank of India, JVPT (Nhava -Sheva) Bank of India, Ballard Piler and have to keep minimum balance of Rs. 10000/- in each Account, on which no interest accruable. The SSI Unit has not to block this amount in these Account, but has to pay service charges, Folio Charges, incur 18% interest on the Money borrowed from the regular Bank, maintain Four Bank Account, incur the Cost of 4 Cheque Books (Each Cheque cost is Rs. 2/- in Mumbai for Current Account Holder), Postage Charges, Courier Charges, Inspection Charges. How to Compete Globally, though we can create jobs. The SSI is forced to pay interest for utilising the money Borrowed from the Banks & Banks are allowed to use the Money of SSI, Un-Conditionally without Interest. Why should we keep Rs. 10000/- as minimum balance and for whose benefit? If there are 10 Lakh Units Exporting the Goods from India, they have to maintain say Two Accounts & not Three, they have to keep Rs. 20000 Crores rupees with designated Bank for unlimited period without Interest. If the amount feel below 10000/- then pay Rs. 400/- per month as penalty to the Bank. They treat us second Class. They enjoy & to pay |

In the manufacturing sector, the SSI sector provides largest employment but with globalisation and liberalisation a large number of SSIs are getting closed down. As a result, there is larger displacement of workers. What is the way out? |

I mean what is the point of excluding our big corporate houses from producing potentiall moneyspinners if done on a large scale.I mean it isn,t exactly serving a social purpose as the basic need for protectionism for the SSI workers is undermined by imports of cheaper(better?) goo |

Small scale soap industry is facing serious problems due to non availibility of non edible oil and their high rates of import duty & due to mncs and large scale power oriented soap industries in which the hand made soap needs cut in import duties & the tax structure should be equal to kbic |

NN International is a new business established recently and an Export Oriented SSI unit. Though it is a proprietor as of now ship all three people who are involved in this business are having considerable wealth of experience in trade commerce. We intend converting this company as a profile that is self-explanatory. Our CONFIRMED Cashew Export orders are worth about nearly USD 325,000 for next three months. Most of our customers are from Greece and we have got necessary buyers credit approval from Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. We intend exporting about at least USD 1 million during this financial year. Kindly note this is a sizable foreign exchange to the country as a whole. We have tried with all most all the banks here in Chennai and none of them are not in position to help us. We have tried our level best to get the CGFT Scheme for SSI established by the Govt. of India and SIDBI. Every Banker needs collateral to the full value of loan. Our requirement is at least 2/3rds of each order as a working capital and we have already invested about Rs. 10 Lakhs towards this. We are utilizing one of participant's existing machinery and other assets worth about Rs.4 Lakhs as Fixed Assets which he has already using for the Cashew processing in the Panruti Area in Tamil Nadu. Recently we have taken up this matter with CGM of SBI here and he has directled his deputites to consider our request. However his deputies are still insisting on collateral for the facility even though we are giving the sole property of the proprietor which will cover part of the loan amount. Loan and not considering the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust Scheme for Small Industries as an alternative. Would appreciate if you could advice us on how we can get an assistance to proceed with these orders and earn the valuable foreign exchange for our country as well as create wealth to us. Would also appreciate if you could advice us on above during the chat scheduled for 16th July 2002. |

You are aware that the SSI sector especially the Tiny industries are main creator of jobs in the urban and semi urban industrial areas! But the required finance for these units is elusive because of the reluctance of the commercial banks. Don't you think that the priority sector lending is to be monitored and regulated? Marketing is a gray area for the tiny sector units. The present marketing policy of the central Govt does not assures the due portion of purchases to the tiny sector please do the necessary. Nationalized financial agencies and commercial banks have special rehabilitation programmes for the sick units. But the SSI units and tiny who have got their financial requirement are not getting the benefits of the RBI schemes. The ensure SSI ministry and refinancing agencies like SIDBI initiate the things could the minister act? Tiny sector needs industrial sheds. If association takes initiate to have state Govt lands the state Govt should take initiative to allot the land to the association. The Rural industries ministry should work to evolve clear guidelines would the ministry act upon this proposal? |
